Alhambra Homecoming
June 20
Fireworks will light up the sky at this year's Alhambra Homecoming.
Fireworks, donated by Boe Yeager Consulting of Staunton and Premier Pyrotechnics of Richland, MO. The display will be lit around 10 PM on Saturday, June 20.
Another new twist to this year's homecoming will be an armband matinee on Thursday, June 18, starting at 6 PM. Participants can pay one price for an armband and ride as many rides as they can possibly ride for one low price. This year's carnival rides are provided by Fountain City Amusements. Rides will open at 5 PM on Friday and 4 PM on Saturday. In addition to the carnival rides on Thursday, carnival concession stands and games will also be open and ready for fun.
The homecoming, held on June 19 and 20, will feature live music, great food and cold beverages as usual. This year's food stands open at 5 PM on Friday and 4 PM on Saturday. Friday's entertainment, the Mark Murphy Band, will play from 8 PM until Midnight. Buzz the Dawg will play on Saturday from 8 until midnight.
The homecoming committee is seeking vendor stands to participate in this year's event. Please contact stand chairperson, Angie Highlander, at 635 5657 for more information.
The theme to this year's parade is 'Think Green'. Parades will be held both nights with Friday's parade starting at 7 PM and Saturday's parade stepping off at 6 PM. Participation in the parade is free. Please contact parade chairperson, Patty Take, at 488 7020.
The Alhambra Homecoming Committee is made up of members of the Alhambra Volunteer Fire Department and the Alhambra Jaycees. This will be the 14th homecoming since being restarted in 1996.
